Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) For Faculty
Question: How can I get a list of undergraduate students with accommodations in my class?
Answer: Undergraduate students must submit a semester renewal request through SDAO in order to share their accommodation letter. During this process, students can select which courses and accommodations they wish to share. Once the student completes the process, instructors will receive an email from our system, Accommodate, with the student's accommodation letter. As a result, we cannot provide instructors with a list of students, but you can access the accommodation letters that have been sent to you by following our process. To view the accommodation letters, simply log into Accommodate. Follow the steps on our Faculty page by following the Faculty Page Link here.
Question: My undergraduate student has mentioned they have accommodations, but I haven't received their accommodation letter through the SDAO portal. What should I do?
Answer: Please inform your student that they need to submit a semester renewal request through SDAO in order for their official accommodation letter to be sent to you as their instructor. If the student has any questions on how to do this, they can access steps here on our website on the Semester Renewal Process Page Link here, they are welcome to contact SDAO at SDAO@duke.edu.
Question: I have a student who has shared that they are seeking accommodations. How can I best support?
Answer: You can inform students that the Student Disability Access Office (SDAO) may support them through the official accommodation process. Students may begin by submitting a request through the Accommodate portal on our website. Detailed steps can be found on the Accommodate and Student Portal Page Link here. You can also share our website and contact information with your student. Students can reach us at the following:
