How to Request Accommodations

For the purpose of receiving consideration for reasonable accommodations at Duke University, an individual must have an impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.

Not all disabilities are permanent. Temporary conditions lasting six months or less can also impact one’s ability to function in his/her/their usual manner. These conditions can include fractures, severe sprains, surgeries, infections and other non-permanent conditions.

The first step in receiving consideration for an accommodation is to submit a request.

If you are a current student or employee, please note that you may also need to submit additional forms and documentation.

If you are a visitor to Duke, please submit your request at least 5 days in advance of your visit. Examples of accommodations you can request include sign language interpreters, van services, and ADA parking.
