Alternative Accessible Routes for Campus Projects

Gross Hall Main Accessible Entrance Closed (August 16–December 26, 2025)

The sidewalk that leads to Gross Hall from the corner of Science Drive and Towerview Drive is closed due to construction. The closure will take place for the entirety of the Fall Semester.

The University has several options for students, faculty, staff and visitors with physical disabilities to access the building.

  1. There are two alternative pedestrian routes and one bus route. There have been signs placed along each pedestrian detour to identify the routes. (See map below)
    1. Pedestrian Route A (longer distance, less slope)
      1. Directions:
        1. Take the sidewalk along Towerview Drive towards Circuit Drive.
        2. Go right on to Circuit Drive towards the entrance towards the entrance to the Chemistry Parking Lot.
        3. Enter the Chemistry Parking Lot and go straight towards Gross Hall.
        4. Use the ramp in the rear of the building.
        5. Go along the paved path on the side of the building near the loading zone.
        6. Enter the building and turn towards the right.
        7. Use the elevator to access the necessary floor.
    2. Pedestrian Route B (less distance, more slope)
      1. Directions:
        1. Take the sidewalk from Science Drive and go between Gross Hall and French Sciences near the Camel Statue.
        2. Continue to follow the signs that will lead to the Chemistry Parking Lot.
        3. Turn left to go up towards Gross Hall.
        4. Use the ramp in the rear of the building.
        5. Go along the paved path on the side of the building near the loading zone.
        6. Enter the building and turn towards the right.
        7. Use the elevator to access the necessary floor.
    3. Bus Access
      1. The PR1 Bassett-Research bus route is installing a temporary stop at the entrance to Chemistry Parking Lot. Bus riders traveling to Gross Hall will need to request the bus to stop since it is a temporary stop.
